About this plant

✨ Oncidium Titanium Treasure 'Yellow': A Golden Treasure in Your Garden ✨

The Oncidium Titanium Treasure 'Yellow' stands out as a modern, vigorous hybrid, celebrated for its brightness and ease of cultivation. This cross was developed to produce spectacular flower spikes that resemble a contemporary "golden shower". It is therefore an excellent choice for both beginner orchid enthusiasts and collectors who want a sunny, long-lasting visual impact.

Main Features

  • Abundant Flowering: 🎨 This orchid produces long, branching spikes covered in dozens of small flowers in a vibrant, pure yellow. In addition, the texture of the petals has a subtle metallic sheen, which justifies the name "Titanium".

  • Robust Pseudobulbs: 🧅 The plant has large, oval pseudobulbs, which work as efficient reservoirs of water and energy. Consequently, it shows remarkable resistance to short periods of drought.

  • Epiphytic Growth Habit: 🌳 Like most Oncidiums, this species originally grows on trees. As a result, it develops a root system that appreciates both constant moisture and rapid drying between waterings.

  • Long-Lasting Blooms: ⏳ The flowers of this hybrid are known for staying fresh and open for several weeks. However, to prolong this display, you should keep the plant in a cool spot once the buds are fully open.

🌱 Growing the Oncidium Titanium Treasure 'Yellow'

Although it is a resilient plant, you will get much brighter results if you follow these optimised growing guidelines.

  • Light: ☀️ This orchid needs bright, indirect light. It tolerates gentle early-morning sun, but you should protect it during the hours of intense heat. In addition, light green leaves indicate that the plant is receiving the ideal light to flower.

  • Temperature: 🌡️ It adapts perfectly to intermediate to warm climates. The Oncidium Titanium Treasure thrives at temperatures between $18^circtext{C}$ and $28^circtext{C}$, withstanding slight variations without compromising its vigour.

  • Humidity: 💧 Maintain moderate humidity, ideally between 50% and 60%. This way, you prevent the new leaves from growing "accordion-pleated", a common sign of a lack of ambient humidity during development.

  • Watering: 🚿 Water the plant generously whenever the substrate is almost dry. However, avoid prolonged waterlogging. Therefore, use pots with side holes or well-aerated substrates to ensure the roots can breathe.

  • Substrate: 🪴 Use a fast-draining mix. A combination of medium-grade pine bark, charcoal and coconut chips is the perfect choice for this hybrid.

✨ Additional Care

  • Ventilation: 🌬️ Moving air is vital to prevent black spots from appearing on the leaves. Consequently, keep your plant in an airy spot, but free from cold, dry draughts.

  • Feeding: 🧪 Apply a balanced fertiliser (such as NPK 20-20-20) every two weeks during the growth phase of the new shoots. On the other hand, reduce the dose once the flower spike is fully formed.

  • Checking the Pseudobulbs: 🧐 If the pseudobulbs show a lot of wrinkles, it means the plant needs more hydration. However, if they are smooth and firm, your watering routine is perfect.

With its golden flowers and elegant habit, the Oncidium Titanium Treasure 'Yellow' will transform any room into a space full of light and tropical energy.
